Terms of use

Last updated: May 21, 2026. These rules govern use of WebDocs ("the service"). Continued use means you accept them.

Using the product

The public demo at / lets you evaluate inline HTML comments without creating an account. The cloud workspace at /app requires sign-in through Clerk. You are responsible for the HTML you upload, for comment content you add, and for complying with applicable law.

Upload limits and technical constraints

User-supplied HTML is rejected when it exceeds about 2 MiB (see UPLOADED_HTML_MAX_BYTES in the codebase). Replacing HTML on an existing cloud document clears its comment threads as part of the replace operation.

Privacy, data, and security

How we handle information—including where document content is stored, encryption at rest on Convex, and what the public demo keeps locally—is summarized in Privacy. The service is not end-to-end encrypted; do not upload secrets or regulated data you are not allowed to place in a standard multi-tenant SaaS backend.

Deletion

Document removal in the cloud workspace is a hard delete with no in-product trash or recovery. Provider backup retention may still apply per Convex's policies.

Disclaimer

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We aim to follow sound security practices and accurate notices, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
